Nothing better than a good book...

If it's good, I'll read it! Instagram:  @crystenasbooks

Reading progress update: I've read 114 out of 444 pages.

The Winter Palace: A Novel of Catherine the Great - Eva Stachniak

I've been meaning to read this for months. It's been so well reviewed and I love historical fiction. I'm so glad my local library had it on Overdrive.

Very good so far. In the part I've read Varenka, a young chambermaid, and Catherine soon to be the Great are teenagers trying to survive Russian court. This is a break from the Tudor fiction I usually read but sure enough, the problems are still the same -  intrigue, lack of trust, political back stabbing, moody monarchs.

Their friendship has just been put to the test, anxious to see what happens.
