This is a 5-star book for me.
This book is the story of Joanna, a daughter of King John ( the infamous one from Robin Hood) and the Welsh Prince Llewelyn. The book’s 700+ pages are full of history. I found myself double checking facts, wondering if the events were being overly dramatized for readability’s sake. To my surprise, I found the old adage true - you just can’t make this stuff up. That being said, the book doesn’t feel overly long. The love story is well done- worthy of those who like a good against-all-odds-kind of love story. How Penman marries the history and the dramatization of the characters is brilliant. This book is a must for historical fiction fans. Highly recommend.
